I write songs and sing with Go West. I began that journey with Richard in 1982 and we’re still on the road. You can read all about that elsewhere.
In other news. My ‘major label’ solo CD was imaginatively entitled ‘Peter Cox’. I had some UK success with the first single from that album, ‘Ain’t Gonna Cry Again’. Since then I’ve recorded independently, helped by many talented friends without whom there would have been fewer releases. I am in their debt. Brit Award? Yep. Reality TV show? Done that. International gigs? All the time.
‘The Cornfield Meet’ is a DVD of an intimate live show. It includes performances of songs from my CD ‘Riding The Blinds’. ‘Damn The Brakes’ is a collection of original songs and covers reflecting some of my early influences and my continuing love of the blues.
Now you know.

Episode 283 - Peter Cox of Go West/Solo Many, including me, consider Go West frontman Peter Cox one of the greatest blue-eyed soul singers the UK has ever produced. With musical partner Richard Drummie, Go West competed in the synth pop genre well in the 80s with hits like "We Close Our Eyes" and the gigantic "King of Wishful Thinking". Thank you, @djmaxdagoodman.. 🙏🏻 Go West - The King Is Dead 12’’ (1987) This beautiful jazzy single was the third single from their second album. Peter Cox delivers strong vocals and when Kate Bush is included on backing vocals, it’s perfectly smooth! The single reached No. 67 in the UK. The 12" version of the single featured a live version of "The King Is Dead" as the A-side, recorded live at the Hammersmith Odeon, London. #gowest #thekingisdead #petercox #richarddrummie @officialpetercox #katebush #alanmurphy #peteradams #jazlochrie #jimmycopley #vinyl #vinylporn #vinyljunkie #vinyladdict #vinyloftheday #vinylcollection #vinylcollector #12inch #maxisingle #records #80s #80smusic #recordcollection #recordcollector #recordcovers #records #vinylcommunity #80ssmoothjazz #dontlookdown #littleceasar #callme #mobirch
Hey, kids! Hope you're all keeping safe and well. These strange circumstances have necessitated an unfamiliar way of recording. The musicians involved obviously can't be in the same room - so I've had to lean hard on talented friends for help, and they've been amazing. Together we have recorded a cover of the Average White Band's 'When Will You Be Mine' and a funky take on Paul Weller's 'You Do Something To Me'. They both have 'lockdown' videos and will be available to purchase from 7pm tomorrow. They will be download only - no physical product. The link will be onscreen during my Let's Rock FB Q&A and I'll repost it here afterwards in case you miss it. 😁 I thank you.. 🙏
